Founded in 1948, the Lord Reading Law Society is the collective voice of Jewish jurists in Quebec.
We are dedicated to the furtherance of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and aim to serve the legal community, the Jewish community and the community at large.
In addition to our defence of human rights, the Society is best known for its dinners, which feature prominent speakers from the judiciary and academia, as well as from law firms, politics and the world of business. The Society’s events have become an integral part of the calendar of Montreal’s legal community.
You can read the Society’s memorandum regarding Bill 96 and related press release.
The Society has submitted a memorandum on Bill 21 to the National Assembly. You can read the memorandum and summaries of the memo.
On the occasion of the Society’s 70th Anniversary, we have enlisted a number of Past Presidents to tell the story of the Society.
