As you are aware, the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to remain of the utmost public concern. For several weeks now, the Lord Reading Law Society has been monitoring the situation closely, including the latest recommendations issued by the Public Health Agency of Canada and Le ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec.

As you may also be aware, our next dinner was scheduled for the evening of Thursday, April 2, 2020. It was to feature Marie Henein, one of the country’s leading criminal and litigation attorneys.

Unfortunately, based on the most recent news including Premier Legault’s decision to ban gatherings of more than 250 people, and out of an abundance of concern, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our April 2nd dinner.

We believe it is in the best interests of our members, guests and the community-at-large to avoid large gatherings. Social distancing is a public health measure and includes things like event cancellations to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

While we were looking forward to presenting another in our stellar lineup of speakers, the health and safety of our event participants and the community-at-large is our highest priority. We are exploring options to reschedule the dinner. We have not yet made a decision regarding our May 21st event; we will continue to monitor the situation and we will update you as soon as possible.

We appreciate your understanding during this challenging time and look forward to welcoming you to another Lord Reading event later this year.

Sincerely,

Gregory Azancot

President
